News from: The Butterfly Mission
The Butterfly Mission has never been busier, and we have never been needed more than we are now, especially with the current health and financial crisis that is causing chaos in our homes and lives. The Coachella Valley families depend on the tourism industry to provide employment, which includes food and the basic needs of their families. Child Protective Services continues to report an increase in domestic violence, as parents and children are interacting continually, something that many parents do not know how to accomplish without the assistance of outside agencies and teachers. As a result, the number of mothers with children seeking shelter and services at the Coachella Valley Rescue Mission (CVRM) has increased exponentially. The Butterfly Mission helps to uplift the efforts of CVRM, teaching the mothers how to help themselves, supporting their efforts to find gainful employment and a safe place to live with their children.
In the Coachella Valley, there are over 1,000 people on any given night that are homeless; 65 % of the population lives under the poverty line, over 20 families with children are also homeless, with an additional 77% of the Coachella Valley hovering on the edge of homelessness. During 2019-20, donations from community members and the RAP Foundation allowed us to successfully empower 13 mothers, 52 children, to gain employment and become self-sufficient. Our services include transportation to doctors appointments and job interviews, employment services, clothes, shoes, personal hygiene items, resume development, job seeking services, and educational opportunities.
The Butterfly Mission is needed now more than ever! The Coachella Valley’s most vulnerable population, homeless mothers and children, need YOU! Our donors and supporters change the lives of our future leaders, doctors, attorneys, teachers, military personal, et al. Will you support the future of the Coachella Valley? Will you become the difference in the lives of our most vulnerable population? Will you help a mother achieve self-sufficiency? Donate TODAY!
