The Mission Springs Water District (MSWD) Board of Directors voted unanimously to appoint Director Randy Duncan as President beginning January 1, 2018. Duncan has served on the MSWD Board for a cumulative seven years from 2005-2009, then appointed in 2014 to fill a vacancy on the Board. Duncan was elected to a four-year term in 2015.
Mr. Duncan stated that he was honored to accept the nomination and commended outgoing President, Russ Martin, for his service over the past year. Martin was appointed to the office of Vice President for 2018.
Mr. Duncan also stated that his top priority for the District hasn’t changed since returning to the Board in 2014: “Protecting our water quality by expanding the sewer collection system to mitigate septic tanks will remain a priority until there are no more septic tanks,” He said. “The sustainable Groundwater Management Act and other water-rights issues are extremely important issues we will be focusing on in the coming year as well.”
Mr. Duncan, originally from Yucaipa, California, has lived in and owned small businesses in Desert Hot Springs with his wife, Dianne, for over 25 years. They have two grown children, Kevin – 26, and Shannon – 24.
Duncan is a veteran of the US Marine Corps having served for 10 years. He also served on the Desert Hot Springs Planning Commission, held Board positions in the DHS Rotary Club, the DHS Boys and Girls Club, and is currently a member of the Board of the Cathedral City Senior Center. In his profession, he serves as Southwest Regional Advisor to the Board of United Healthcare.
The MSWD Board is rounded out by directors Jeff Bowman, Ivan Sewell, and Nancy Wright.
