News from Our Lady of Perpetual Help:
INDIO, CA – Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, School, and Preschool in Indio (OLPH) invite the public to come “Leave Your Mark” on their new Parish Center and Preschool building this coming Saturday and Sunday, August 27th and 28th, 2016. All individuals and families are welcome to participate by writing their names on the beams of the building before they are covered up. A minimum donation of $5 per individual and $20 per family is being requested. Funds raised go toward the parish and school’s Building Fund.
Construction on the new building, at the corner of Bliss Avenue and Park Street in Indio, began in August of 2015 and is slated to be completed in early 2017. When completed, it will house the school’s existing Preschool Program, the Parish’s administrative offices, an indoor basketball court, a stage, a commercial kitchen, and the school’s infirmary. The project was jump started by a generous donation from the J.F. Shea Co., Inc. Family of Companies.
The “Leave Your Mark” fundraising event will help raise additional capital for OLPH’s Building Fund to cover additional expenses related to the new building, like furnishings and long-term maintenance. Plus, it provides a way for the entire community to be a part of this new project in the heart of the City of Indio.
“This weekend’s ‘Leave Your Mark’ fundraiser is very exciting,” said Reverend Alex Gamino, Parish Administrator of OLPH. “We want the community to come and be a part of our history. Whether people are parishioners or not, many residents in Indio and the greater Coachella Valley have stories about their ties to OLPH that go back throughout the 80-year history of our parish’s church and the 65-year history of our school. We want them to be a part of this next milestone, too.”
The “Leave Your Mark” fundraising event is this Saturday and Sunday, August 27th and 28th, 2016, after each Mass. Mass times are 5pm and 7pm on Saturday, and 6:30am, 8:15am, 10am, 12pm, 2pm, and 7pm on Sunday, lasting approximately one hour each. People interested in participating in the fundraiser should meet at the construction site of the new OLPH Parish Center and Preschool building at Bliss Avenue and Park Street in Indio. A minimum donation of $5 per individual and $20 per family is requested. Funds will go toward OLPH’s Building Fund. The public is welcome and encouraged to participate.
