Popular Travel Site Trivago Names Indio Trending Destination
INDIO, CA (May 23, 2017) – Popular travel site Trivago today named Indio, California one of the top “Trending Travel Destinations in the U.S. and Beyond.” A recent analysis by trivago.com tracked the top emerging travel destinations among U.S. travelers and found Indio to be near the top of the list for growing travel spots.
Among the driving factors influencing travel behavior, the study sites Americans’ continuing desire to enjoy the outdoors. With many parks and outdoor events, including the nearby Joshua Tree National Park, coupled with ideal winter weather, Indio perfectly fits the profile of travelers eager for outdoor adventure. “Indio has become world famous for our outdoor festivals and activities,” said Mayor Elaine Holmes. “With beautiful sunshine almost year-round, this is the ideal destination for people who want to maintain an active and healthy lifestyle. With the mountains, beach, and various national parks within close driving range, you can see why so many people are choosing Indio to visit and call home.”
While joined on the prestigious list by several nearby Arizona destinations, including Yuma and Kingman, Indio was the only city in California to make the list. Indio is host to several internationally recognized festivals, including the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, Stagecoach California’s Country Music Festival, and the Riverside County Fair & National Date Festival. Indio is also home to championship sporting events, world-class entertainment venues, and several prominent regional and national annual events.
