The Greater Coachella Valley Chamber of Commerce (GCVCC) has been working to help local medical workers on the front line of the COVID-19 fight. Working with members, they have helped to address the essential need of end-of-shift clothing transfer. This vital function is performed routinely by health care workers at the conclusion of their shift, striping off and replacing the top layer of clothing to mitigate virus transfer outside of the building.
“My sister works for one our local hospitals,” says Rebecca Rizzo, GCVCC Director of Membership. “She told me there was a need for supplies related to this particular activity, and I knew this was something we could help with. I put out a call to our members and they responded, as I knew they would.” Supplies were delivered to Desert Regional Hospital and Desert Care Network locations.
The transfer of clothing is universal to all the workers at medical facilities under current conditions, including volunteers and general staff. These efforts help protect not only the workers, but their families and the public at large. The items donated included face shields, t-shirts, undershirts, leggings, plastic shoe bins, large Ziploc bags and trash bags.
The GCVCC would like to thank our contributing members, including LuLa Roe, Cathedral City Lock & Safe, Desert AIDS Project, Revivals Stores – Palm Springs, Heather Ramirez of Heather Just Create, California Dates, Konnections, and Rizzo Strategic Solutions. Special thanks as well to our Riverside County teacher of the year Tom Buck, Becky Truncale, Carmen Shelton, and Kimberly Krause for helping our efforts!
