Message from Fantasy Springs:
Garbage, long known for their meticulously crafted blend of dark, industrial noise, sci-fi pop melodies, whirlwind guitar and tricked-out rhythms, set the bar high for popular music in the 1990’s. Hot on the heels of their brand new album Strange Little Birds, Garbage will be headlining The Special Events Center at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino on Friday, September 15, 2017.
Formed in Madison, Wisconsin in 1993 and made up of Scottish lead singer Shirley Manson and American musicians Duke Erikson, Steve Marker and Butch Vig, Garbage hit it big with their double platinum debut album Garbage, featuring the smash hit singles “Stupid Girl” and “Only Happy When It Rains.” Their follow-up album Version 2.0 was just as successful, spawning the singles “Push It” and “Special.”
Garbage’s latest album, Strange Little Birds, marks a return to musical basics for the band. In fact, Shirley Manson hears echoes of the band’s 1995 debut album in its compositions. “To me, this record, funnily enough, has the most to do with the first record than any of the previous records,” she says. “It’s getting back to that beginner’s headspace.” She also calls the album Garbage’s most romantic album, saying “And what I mean by romance, really, is vulnerability. I used to feel so scared, and I think that was why I was so aggressive — but I’m much more willing to admit weaknesses than I was before.
Despite selling 17 million albums worldwide and being nominated for seven Grammy Awards, Garbage isn’t resting on its laurels. They’re hitting the road with a renewed vigor and Shirley Manson and the rest of the band can’t wait to give the audience at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino a show they’ll never forget.
Tickets for the 8pm Garbage show on Friday, September 15, 2017 go on sale Friday, June 2nd for $59, $49 and $39 at the Fantasy Springs Box Office, via telephone (800) 827-2946 or online at www.FantasySpringsResort.com.
