Tours of CVVIM will be available. \nPlease contact John Hunneman (951) 894-3530 if your media outlet is planning to attend.\nSenator Stone and officials with the Coachella Valley Volunteers for Medicine will be available to explain the importance of a new law that will bring expanded medical services to the region.\nSenate Bill 1261\, by Senator Stone — recently signed into law by Governor Jerry Brown — will expand medical care to California residents by allowing out-of-state doctors to volunteer their time and skills while visiting the state. \n“This is an important law for many parts of our state\, especially the Coachella Valley where many retired and semi-retired doctors come to spend the winter months\,” said Senator Stone. “Health clinics often call on these doctors to volunteer at community events and health screenings\, but those doctors have been limited by state law.”\nThe Mission of the Coachella Valley Volunteers in Medicine is to provide a no-cost primary health care service to medically underserved adults residing in the Coachella Valley.\nCVVIM is a nonprofit organization that provides no-charge medical and dental care to low-income residents of the Coachella Valley who have no insurance\, or are under-insured.\nFor more information on their programs and services\, please visit their website at www.cvvim.org or call to (760) 342-4414. \nWatch Senator Stone’s floor presentation of SB 1261 here:\nhttp://stone.cssrc.us/content/senator-stones-sb-1261-passes-senate-unanimous-suppor
