PALM SPRINGS, CA. —College juniors and seniors and College of the Desert students can still apply for two scholarships for the 2016-2017 academic year, the Coachella Valley Economic Partnership (CVEP) announced today. For additional information, contact 760-671-2016 or email [email protected].
CVEP invites students to become one of its growing number of scholarship success stories, like Juan Guzman, who graduated from Desert Hot Springs High School and earned a bachelor of science degree in biology at University of California Riverside. Juan has returned to the Coachella Valley to prepare for the Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT). His goal is to graduate from medical school and return to Desert Hot Springs as a family physician.
The two scholarships available are:
The Desert Healthcare District’s Mental Health and Behavioral Health Careers Scholarship, a one-year award of up to $5,000. Deadlines for applications are September 23 and December 31, 2016. Apply at dhcd.cvscholars.com
Qualifications:
- junior or senior undergraduate during the 2016-2017 academic year
- enrolled full-time in accredited non-profit U.S. college or university
- major related to a career in Mental or Behavioral Health
- minimum 3.0 grade point average
- demonstrate financial need
- reside within the Desert Healthcare District
The College of the Desert Alumni Association Scholarship is a one-year award of up to $2,500 for tuition, books, educational fees, living expenses or other related educational expenses. Applicants must be Coachella Valley students pursuing an associate degree at College of the Desert and demonstrate financial need. A limited number of students will be considered for two-year awards.
