News from the City of Indio
Indio, CA: A group has rallied around the needs of local seniors to help purchase and donate items for care packages. The care packages contain feel-good items for seniors, whose ages and health conditions might have prevented them from normal recreation and socialization during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The care packages contain items like chapstick, a resistance band to work out from home, hand sanitizer, and toilet paper. One bag per senior age 55 and older is available for drive-by pick-up at the Indio Senior Center from 7:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 12th.
“When the social distance is the new norm, our community is closer than ever. A lot of things might have changed, but the love and care we have for one another remain the same,” said Argelia Jimenez, Indio Senior Center Director. “The ISC is proud to serve this community of strong-willed, caring individuals. In the good and the bad, we are here to lend a helping hand.”
Contributors to the Indio Senior Center included Bilhartz Desert Insurance Agency, La Botica Pharmacy, Friends of the Indio Senior Center, Forest Lawn, and others. Up to 500 are available for distribution on June 12.
Other local individuals and businesses are welcome to contribute before June 5, by contacting Argelia Jimenez at (760) 391-4170 or [email protected].
