Application Deadline August 25, 2017
CVEP, in partnership with UC Riverside Research and Economic Development and EPIC (Entrepreneurial Proof of Concept and Innovation Center), will be hosting the first Coachella Valley “Startups for Innovators” series. The UCR Entrepreneurial teaching staff of Mark Leibowitz, Ph.D. and Jay Gilberg, Ph.D will lead these three cost-free experiential workshops. The workshops will be held in Palm Springs on September 12, 19 and 26 from 11:30 am to 2:00 pm.
“Bringing such a high powered and accomplished training series to the Coachella Valley is the perfect complement to the impactful programs that we already have in place,” notes Joe Wallace, CEO of CVEP. “Cementing a connection to the University of California Riverside will not only make advanced instruction available to aspiring entrepreneurs, it is coming from the team that just formed the Highlander Venture Fund that is the first venture capital firm to be explicitly available to entrepreneurs in the greater Palm Springs region.”
Entrepreneurial teams will conduct customer discovery interviews and learn to make quick business presentations utilizing that data. Experienced entrepreneurs will provide one-on-one mentoring to each team.
Topics include:
- Why companies fail, and how to avoid it
- How to identify customers
- How to define customer’s needs/pains and tailor your product to address them
- How to effectively communicate your business to outsiders
This innovative and informative series has been held across Riverside County and has been very well attended. All industries are welcome to apply. The ‘winning’ entrepreneurial team will be awarded three months office space in the Palm Springs iHub (a $1,200 value).Individuals and teams of Coachella Valley entrepreneurs are encouraged to submit completed applications by August 25, 2017 to [email protected].
