News from Chandi Group USA
Indio, CA: In an effort to help Coachella Valley residents affected by the coronavirus (COVID-19), Chandi Group USA partnered with local Sikh temple Gurdwara Sahib Indio to prepare and donate more than 1,200 meals on Thursday. The meals — a combination of traditional Sikh vegetarian dishes and menu items from Chandi Group USA-operated Del Taco and Subway restaurants — are being distributed by Destiny Church to the front lines of the pandemic, including JFK Memorial Hospital, local senior centers and grocery stores, and migrant farm workers in Mecca.
“With the coronavirus affecting people from all walks of life, we wanted to show our support and do our part,” said Nachhattar Singh Chandi, CEO of Chandi Group USA and a longtime member of Gurdwara Sahib Indio. “As a local business owner and member of the Sikh community, we’re happy to be able to give back during these difficult and unprecedented times.”
Chandi Group USA has long history of community involvement and philanthropy in the Coachella Valley, having donated over $1 million to local charitable organizations over the years.
“We are extremely thankful for this donation from our friends of the Sikh faith and Chandi Group USA,” said Destiny Church Senior Pastor Obed Martinez. “Times like these bring out the true character in people, and you can see God’s work at hand. A gesture like this goes a long way to ease the suffering of our friends and neighbors.”
