Friends of Braille Institute Rancho Mirage is the auxiliary fundraising organization for Braille Institute Rancho Mirage where students with anywhere from low-vision to total blindness learn to live their lives with greater independence, dignity and expression. This year’s fundraising theme is Fulfillment through the Arts – raising money for the many arts programs and spaces available to students – free of charge – at Braille Institute Rancho Mirage. Arts programs at Braille include: ceramics, fiber arts, horticulture, photography, music and dance.
Bon Appetit! begins with a Silent Auction, Student Art Sale and “no host” wine reception/social hour at the beautiful and historic Thunderbird Country Club – Rancho Mirage. A gourmet 3 course luncheon will then be served followed by the presentation of Lee Hoiby’s comic opera – Bon Appetit! by Erin Murphy as Julia Child accompanied by Roger Cantrell. This whimsically funny musical presentation takes the audience through an episode of Julia Child’s iconic television series where she creates a dish and samples maybe a wee-bit too much wine along the way!
Join the fun – take home some treasures from the Silent Auction and Student Art Sale, enjoy great wine from the Monticello Vineyards, a fabulous meal from the kitchens of the Thunderbird Country Club, be entertained by fine southern-California musicians and support the work of one of the Coachella Valley’s most worthy institutions – Braille Institute Rancho Mirage – which provides services throughout Riverside, San Bernardino and Imperial Counties.
