“It’s all about people. It’s about networking and being nice to people and not burning any bridges. Your book is going to impress, but in the end it is people that are going to hire you.”

The Greater Coachella Valley Chamber of Commerce hosted it’s Ambassador Corps Annual Planning Lunch this week. It was great to see so many local business professionals come out and express a desire to help advance the chamber. Our Ambassadors are at the heart of so much of our chamber’s work, from local events to general representation in the community, they play a vital role in telling the chamber story. They also gain unique connections with other chamber members through the assistance they offer.
Our Ambassador team is over thirty and growing, and we would love to have more! Are you familiar with the Ambassador program? Is it right for you? Here is a brief Q&A that might help you decide:
What is an Ambassador?
Our Ambassadors are chamber members that have committed to volunteering at our events, recruiting new members, and generally helping to advance the core mission of the chamber – support and connect members to a vibrant local economy.
Is it time consuming?
Our program is very flexible. Some of our Ambassadors are at every event, some we see two to three times a month, it really depends on what your circumstances allow. What’s most important is that you commit to contributing in a positive and active manner.
I’m not the best at networking, is that required?
No, there are lots of volunteer opportunities at every level of the organization. In fact, for those who struggle with networking the Ambassador program may be the best format for you to engage in the chamber. It will allow you to meet other business professionals in a relaxed and often structured environment.
Is there a fee or additional financial considerations to participate?
No, to the contrary our Ambassador program sometimes allows for participation in chamber events at a discounted rate (or no cost).
